Rosemary Daniell, award-winning author, founder of Zona Rosa writing-and-living workshops, and known as one of the best writing coaches in the country, will lead a second 2008 European workshop: a retreat in Southwestern France. Our location is near the town of Millau in the Aveyron region of Languedoc-Roussillon, east of Toulouse. Our residence is the Domaine de la Cadenède, a fortified farmhouse built during the 13th century at the time of the Knights Templar, with Renaissance additions that include an interior courtyard built in 1660. A swimming pool, outdoor kitchen and dining area are within view of the spectacular Viaduct of Millau, the world's tallest bridge and an engineering marvel that opened in December 2004. Bicycles are available for rent, and there is a fitness room with exercise equipment. Wireless internet access is available throughout the house. The cost of $2845 includes the one-week rental in shared twin-bedded rooms (several rooms have double plus single), group airport transfers, a full-day excursion into the countryside, all meals (prepared by our extraordinary chefs, Pam and Judith) except lunch on the excursion, manuscript critique and private and group sessions with Rosemary, and miscellaneous expenses (cleaning fees, auto rental for the chefs, gas, parking and tolls, etc.). Not included: lunch and any entrance fees on the excursion, gratuities to the drivers, and items of a personal nature. Single supplement (limited availability): $300. In addition to the retreat cost, a refundable security deposit of $200 is required by the owners.

Our schedule will consist of afternoon group sessions, with subjects tailored to participants’ needs. In addition, each person will meet privately with Rosemary to discuss her/his work, and there will be free time for writing and to explore the countryside on foot. We are only 4 kilometers from the town of Millau.

You will fly into and out of Toulouse, arriving on Friday, Sept. 19, and departing on Friday, Sept. 26. A group transfer will take you from the Toulouse airport and back.
