Our Divine Zona Rosa Creative Writing & Living Retreats, 2008
(and sometimes the guys drop in, too)
Where else can you get bliss, information, transformation, sisterhood, and the Foods of the Goddesses, all in one place?!
Here is what some of the Zona Rosans say about these one-and-two week retreats:
"It was the happiest two weeks of my life." - Rosemary Repeta, Charleston, South Carolina, referring to the two-week Zona Rosa retreat in the South of France, October, 2004
I know of longing for time to stand still
I know it doesn't
I know to relish
each point of joy in the journey
I do
Thanks for being
my joy in the journey.
- Jill Davis, Auburn, Alabama“Rosemary doesn’t waste a minute and she gives her all.
When we were sharing, she was really listening to every word.
I go to workshops often and I found this one (to be) the best
one I have ever been to.”
- Franci Weston, San Antonio Zona Rosan
What one participant said of a recent writing workshop in Berkeley, CA: "I still haven't come down to earth (don't want to), the workshop was like hearing all the music you want to hear, after not being able to find it for way too long...I realized how much I have missed the kind of talking, thinking, and laughter we had at the workshop. That is what spurs me on in my work, no matter which medium I am using, thanks for your dynamic and sensitive energy." - Sali, San Francisco
"Before life coaching was a
profession, there was Rosemary Daniell." - Zona Rosan Pamella Smith,
Atlanta
"Rosemary Daniell is one of the
great writing teachers I have seen at work in the country." - Pat Conroy,
author of The Prince of Tides
"Rosemary Daniell is enormously
gifted . . . She is one of the women by whom our age will be known in times to
come." - Erica Jong

KOKOPELLIWOMAN SPEAKS: Rosemary Daniell and
the Zona Rosa writing group
Last
Saturday was a day of spiritual and creative breakthroughs. My writing teacher,
Rosemary Daniell, the High Priestess of the Zona Rosa writing group, was in town giving a
workshop to the Austin/San Antonio Sub-Rosa women who are obsessed with
writing. I attended aprior workshop last May, and immediately knew that this
was the place for me. Rosemary, author of Secrets
of the Zona Rosa, The Woman Who Spilled Words All Over Herself, Fatal Flowers, and others, was as usual, a
rock of support and information. Mainly, she brings out the best in any writer.
Her books on writing are among the most down-to-earth, just-in-time, get to the
guts of the matter how-to books I've ever come across. And the
woman is a goddess. A genteel, sexy, brilliant, competent recovered Southern
Belle, she has influenced the works of many of today's well-known authors. She
is a consummate editor, and delivers the goods in a loving manner, tinged with
a saucy Southern flirtatious approach. She encourages women to
write their truths, and helps them do so in a professional, confident manner.
She believes that women have a vital imperative to reveal their inner selves in
a way that is most natural to them. At the same time that she gives writers
invaluable tools and cues to tighten and craft words to their greatest effect,
and to get them out into the world. Rosemary is a breath of fresh
air, a scintillating jewel, and writes like a fallen angel. I am proud to link to
her Web site, and I urge any writer to take advantage of her wisdom and
experience and juiciness. You can buy her books on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Powell's book sites. If you're a woman, and you're serious about writing, Rosemary is
your go-to guru.

Our writing retreat will once more take place in the lovely city of Aix-en-Provence, the “Paris of the South.”
Aix-en-Provence was founded by the Romans in 122 BC, although much of its architecture dates from the 17th and 18th centuries, a period of power and prosperity for the city. It is an elegant city of stately plane trees and fountains, music and culture, and a lively student hub. Aix is also a city of leisure, filled with sidewalk cafes, charming restaurants, outdoor markets, and interesting shops, as well as our favorite English language bookstore and coffee shop, Book in Bar. Walk along the tree-lined Cours Mirabeau and pause for a coffee or a glass of wine and people-watching; explore the Vieille Ville, the Old City, and marvel at the warm colors of the architecture; enjoy the sights and scents of the morning outdoor food market, held every day of the year.
Schedule: The week consists of five afternoon workshops in special venues, with subjects tailored to participants’ needs; individual sessions for every participant with Rosemary; and private writing time – plus, of course, lots of fun!
Optional excursions to nearby points of interest will be offered to those interested.
The cost, based on twin occupancy and current rates of exchange, is $2050. Included in the cost: accommodations for the week in a charming small hotel located in a quiet neighborhood, welcome supper and a gala farewell dinner, group airport transfers, manuscript critique, and private and group sessions with Rosemary. Single supplement: $350.
Payments: A non-refundable deposit of $350 is due upon application. For an application form, contact Suzan at srstone1133@aol.com. Since space is limited, participants will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
Air Travel: You will fly into and out of Marseille, arriving on Saturday, September 20, and departing on Saturday, Sept 27. Group transfers will take you from the Marseille airport and back. If you need a travel agent's assistance for your air travel, you can contact Phyliss Brassey at Explorations Travel in Atlanta (770-432-3247; Phyliss@explorationsltd.com). Travel agencies charge fees for their booking services.
Additional Travel:Some participants choose to add additional days to their trip, e.g., to spend a few days in Paris, accessible by rail, or the South of France. Plans for such additions to the trip are the participant's or their travel agents responsibility.
Trip Cancellation Insurance is strongly advised, and can be purchased from Allianz at www.allianztravelinsurance.com or 855-604-4441, or from a travel agent.
