Growing up in a family of artists and writers (her mother is the well-known author Rosemary Daniell; her father is the architect Sidney Daniell, who informed much of the skyline of contemporary Atlanta with his designs) Darcy Daniell had a special feeling for and relation to the human image and to animals since she was a child, A self-taught artist, she was also from an early age a prodigy of painting and drawing. Today, living in Savannah, Darcy has mastered painting from photographs. In her richly neorealistic style, she reveals each person and/or animal's unique spirit and beauty, and in her portraits of animals and their owners the very special relationship they share.
