BOOK LUST: Better Homes and Husbands

Secrets of the Zona RosaSecrets of the Zona Rosa: How Writing (and Sisterhood) Can Change Women's Lives by Rosemary Daniell

Do You Dare?

I am ashamed I didn't write this review the first month of its publication. Here it is now. The reasons you should buy and then read this book are contained in all the reviews herein. Whether it's once in a while or often that you take risks, unless you are holding back and walking the straight and narrow path of conformity, this is a book you should know and use. Come to think of it if you're trying to get off the conformist's path it's for you too.

You should buy and read this book because it is a gift -- a gift from the heart and soul and full rich life of an unusual writer, author, and teacher, born-talent self-formed into literary phenom. The gift of a life of extraordinary courage, pain, abandonment, and perseverance. You'd think somebody who suffered as much as Ms. Daniell would be shriveled up and ready for the ground. Not so. She's soft and pretty; funny and tender; blunt and blundering, flesh and blood. Importantly, she's sincere and enthusiastic and exacts high standards. She has given herself to writing and to teaching those of us too afraid to come out of our holes in the ground or those of us falling out of the sky without a parachute - and everybody in between.

The contents of this book are such that it should be a book bound in fine soft leather with rich colorful end papers. The book is loaded with her own observations & insights and the remarks and writings of other authors all intended to enrich you, encourage you, involve you.  It is divided and subdivided into chapters and subchapters that entertain, teach, guide, exhort, uplift, encourage and just plain believe in you as writer. Yes YOU. And you won't have to change a thing except your habits. Just write. Just do what she tells you to do. You don't have to believe in yourself, she does. If you can't write yet, read the book. Read a paragraph. Read a few words and sleep with it until you can read more. Think I'm crazy? I am. But I'm also right. Buy this book and all at once or a little bit at a time, immerse yourself in it.  You have nothing to lose.  (Read all the reviews of this book.) This is a book for beginners and already-writing alike.
